MUNICH – Shots were fired at a shopping center in Munich, Germany Friday evening.  Multiple people have reportedly been killed.

An ongoing “shooting spree” was happening at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall in the Moosach district of Munich, Germany, a police spokesperson told CNN.

There has been no official number of possible casualties; a large police presence surrounding the area can be scene in reports from local media.

A photo posted on Twitter shows a person lying on the ground under what looks like a white sheet.

The mall has been evacuated and the surrounding area sealed off.

Video posted to Twitter by a woman who says she is a student from Duke University shows people running from the scene, some carrying shopping bags.

President Barack Obama has been briefed on the situation.  He said it is still an active situation and added, “we don’t yet know exactly what’s happening.”

Obama called Germany a close ally and said the government will “pledge all the support that they may need” in the investigation.

This is a developing story.
