Gaint waterslides…they’re supposed to be fun.
Whether sliding down an enclosed tube featuring a light show… or enclosed in a capsule as a door opens beneath you…it’s supposed to be scary, but not this scary.
A Dallas resident David Salmon, uses his arm to try to steer himself down a slide near Austin, Texas.
32-year-old David posted a video of him falling off a water slide and onto a rocky cliff on his facebook page…
“too dang old to be going down water slides. fell off this one that is over a rocky cliff. broke my arm and fractured ribs. multiple lacerations.”
Later he posted an updated.
“Just found out I don’t need surgery so that’s good news!” he wrote. “One more night in Austin then I can go home to Dallas.”
He had to be carried up the hill and taken to the hospital by EMS. He has since been released.
This wasn’t at some water park. This was at somebody’s home their own private waterslide.
At a rental house near Lake Travis, Texas.
The waterslide snakes down the canyon from the back patio.
The video quickly got over a million views.
Commented one friend…”So glad you’re not dead! also so glad this was caught on video because it’s amazing. I can’t stop watching.”
Less sympathetically, someone posted, “hahahaha, he will never be a bobsledder.”
David, he seems to have a sense of humor about the whole incident, judging from the hashtag he chose hashtags, “#waterslide #fail #failvideo #brokenarm #notdead.”
To those of you who crave the thrill of a waterslide be careful on the ride
