Bad news for parents looking to send their kids back to school: lice that was recently tested in 48 states were found to be resistant to most over-the-counter medications. The results were recently published in the Journal of Medical Entomology.
The only two states that didn’t have “super lice” were West Virginia and Alaska. And that was only because no lice from those states were gathered.
It isn’t all bad news, however. The study’s authors say OTC drugs will still kill these highly-evolved lice—you’ll just have to use a lot more of it. So, maybe 2 or three rinses instead of one.
Eye Opener sat down Wednesday with Dr. Shahan Chowdhury to learn more about these “super lice.”
