Have you heard?! Apparently coconut oil can do everything.. well almost everything. Mathew Jedeikin over at tried coconut oil in bunch of different ways to see if it lives up to the hype.

He used it in place of everything from toothpaste to face wash and also put it in as much food as possible. Did it make a difference?

First up was face wash, which he made by mixing coconut oil, honey and lemon essential oils - the result? He says his face was a bit more oily than normal, but his skin was nice and hydrated after just a day.

Then, he crafted some deodorant using coconut oil, baking soda, corn starch and lavender oils. Despite being a paste and going on kind of gooey-like Mathew claims he was odor-free all day long, even after working out.

But using it as a hair conditioner? Total fail! It left his hair oily and kinda stinky. Just ask his husband.

How about a cup of joe to start your day? Just add coconut oil instead of cream! Well, he did and it became one giant oil slick on top. Nasty!

Then, after a few days of using a baking soda, coconut oil, essential oil homemade blend of toothpaste - he had an issue with his teeth not feeling as clean as when he uses store-bought toothpaste. And coconut oil as hand lotion really didn’t cut it.

He also used it to "make whoopie” and it worked very well - you’ll just have to take his word for it.

After about a week of using coconut oil in basically everything, even food - Mathew really didn’t notice a huge difference in his health, sleep or anything - even in his side by side before and after pics.

The greatest success he thought was the homemade coconut oil face wash. But, he admits, maybe a week wasn’t long enough.

So there you go! The coconut oil hype may not be as lovely as it’s made out to be on social media.
