A 12-year-old girl is getting death threats for some hunting photos she posted online.

Aryanna Gourdin recently came back from her dream hunting trip alongside her dad in South Africa. But that dream has turned into a bit of a nightmare.

Shortly after she uploaded photos of her with a dead giraffe, the outrage started pouring in online. Death threats and violent words filled up her Facebook page with thousands of comments.

“To say she deserves to die for shooting a giraffe, I think, is a little extreme,” Aryanna's father Eli Gourdin told FOX13.

Aryanna and her father said they watched as the giraffe and zebra meat from their hunt was donated to local villages. They said the costs of the hunt go towards conservation efforts. Facts the family says those behind the keyboard don't understand.

Despite the threats and harsh comments, Aryanna said it's not going to keep her from hunting. “I try not to read them, I try not to let them get to me. I’m a hunter and anything they say I’m not going to let it get to me and make me not want to hunt anymore,” Aryanna said.

However, the family does take the threats seriously. “I'd hope people aren't as shallow as that, that they value the animal’s life over hers or over any animal for that matter,” Gourdin said.
