7 Actors Who Attempted Music Careers and Failed Big Time

Some actors, like Jamie Foxx, can do it all. He’s got that special something that allows him to sustain an acting career and do fairly well as a recording artist also.

Other actors have managed to do it the other way around, like Justin Timberlake, who picked up acting roles after becoming a massive pop success.

But then there are those who should just stick to their more thespian talents. We’ve broken down a list of actors who tried a music career… and failed.

1. Jennifer Love Hewitt

Before she was your favorite Ghost Whisperer, she tried her hand at music. Jennifer’s stuff wasn’t a complete flop (she released four albums between 1992 and 2002) but it wasn’t a success either. She’s still singing some, but these days it’s mostly for a movie or TV role.

2. Catherine Zeta-Jones

She did a bang up job as a murderous showgirl and even won an Oscar for it, but Catherine Zeta-Jones tried her hand at music before becoming the actress we know and love!

3. Jada Pinkett Smith

The Smith family is not shy to the music scene. We’re all still ‘whipping our hair’ back and forth thanks to Willow Smith and getting ‘jiggy with it’ while doing it. Did you know mama Jada also had a music stint fronting a metal band? Yeah.

4. Scarlett Johansson

Someone who should also stick to kicking butt on the big screen is this next lady. Scarlett Johansson might be our favorite superhero spy, but when she released a full album back in 2008, it was a flop.

5. Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis has a great singing voice and although he’s not too shabby as a musician, he probably shouldn’t quit his day job. Especially because he tried to start a music career and it didn’t translate very well.

6. Lindsay Lohan

She might be notoriously known for being a trouble-making actress, but at one point in her career she tried to make waves in the pop music world.

7. Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy has many talents, he’s a successful comedian and actor, but he’s also had a bit of success as a musician. That’s right! When he released “Party All the Time” back in the 80s, the song actually charted pretty high on the Billboard’s Hot 100’s list coming in at number two! However, it looks like he may have been just another one-hit-wonder.  He’s still making music to this day, but when was the last time you bobbed your head to an Eddie Murphie jam? Exactly.
