Girl Power: Chelsea Handler

You know her best from Chelsea Lately, but Chelsea Handler has been working as a comedian, actress, writer, television host, and producer for quite a while.

She rose to fame hosting her late-night talk show Chelsea Lately on the E! network from 2007 to 2014, but started building an empire that would span TV, film, publishing, and more.

Besides making her mark as a formidable female comedian on-screen, Handler has authored five books that have made the New York Times Best Seller List, and four of them shot to number one. She also has her own columns in Cosmopolitan and NOW, a UK celebrity magazine.

As an avid supporter of LGBT causes, hosted the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards and was named as Grand Marshal of the 2009 Los Angeles LGBT PRIDE Celebration "for her visible and vocal support of equality.”

In 2016, Chelsea filmed a documentary series for Netflix entitled Chelsea Does, featuring four episodes on marriage, Silicon Valley, racism, and drugs. Always expanding her TV repertoire, Netflix picked up Handler’s original comedy talk show Chelsea which streams Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week.

Time magazine even called her one of its 100 Most Influential People, and it’s easy to see why. And that’s why Chelsea Handler is this week’s GIRL POWER.
