Pregnant Teen Killed by Train During Photo Shoot

NAVASOTA, Texas -- A beautiful, yet haunting picture.

This is 19-year-old Fredzania "Zanie" Thompson smiling and full of life during a modeling shoot on the train tracks in Navasota -- right before a train hit and killed her.

Not just one but two lives gone in a snap. Her fiancé, Darnell Chatman, says they'd just found out Zanie was expecting their first child.

"I'm very hurt about the situation because she was so young, but this is what she wanted. She wanted, to become a model," her mom Akamie Stephenson, told KTRK.

While taking time off from Blinn College to launch her modeling career, Zanie figured the train tracks would be the perfect back drop for a photo shoot. Witnesses say she was standing between two sets of tracks when she saw a train coming, so she moved out of the way. For some reason, she didn't realize a second train was coming in the opposite direction.

"The photographer said she was moving. She was actually off the track, but she didn't move far enough, and it hit her," Stephenson said.

Zanie died on the way to the hospital. She would have turned 20 on Monday. Now, instead of planning a birthday celebration, her family has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover her funeral services.
